Where we've been, what we're doing, and photos of the lot!

Wonder if the place will ever be the same

Morpeth has been all over the news
the last few days because of the devastation caused by the floods. The above picture (click to enlarge) on the right was taken about a week ago when me and Jen took Abigail to feed the ducks and for a walk along the river. The picture on the left is from one of the BBC news videos, and by my reckoning we were standing about where the red dot is!!
There's actually a path under the bridge which is hard to believe when you look at the height the water had risen to.
I work in Morpeth and when I left there on Friday I had no idea of what was about to happen to the place. Strangely enough we were actually out drinking in Morpeth with friends on Friday night, which must have been less than 9 hours before the river burst it's banks!
We crossed one of the bridges whilst running between pubs (due to the rain!) and I remember pointing out how fast the river seemed, but of course with drink on board I didn't think much of it.
It's been more than 40 years since Morpeth last had a major flood. Just makes me wonder how much the place is going to change as a result of this weekend....
